Abstract

An improved method has been developed for the preparation of α,α-difluorodiphenylmethanes from the corresponding 1,3-dithiolanes which involves reaction with sulfuryl chloride or sulfuryl chloride fluoride and pyridinium polyhydrogen fluoride, in 86-95% yields.
