Abstract
The circuit extraction mixed potential integral equation (CEMPIE) technique predicts the distributed behavior, corroborated by measurements, of a printed circuit board power-bus structure in terms of a LC linear circuit network. It is particularly useful when other devices of concern are also represented by circuit models such as IBIS models. Novel power-plane design such as power island can be evaluated with simulations. The CEMPIE formulations requires explicit matrix inversions, which is currently implemented with a LU type direct matrix solver. A circuit reduction technique is being investigated to minimize the number of necessary circuit nodes.
