Black Hole Formation in Particle Colliders and High-Energy Cosmic Rays: Recent Results

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

If gravity becomes strong at the TeV scale, forthcoming particle colliders and ultra high energy cosmic ray detectors will probe quantum gravity. The most striking quantum gravitational effect in colliders and cosmic ray detectors will be formation of black holes at the subatomic scale. The study of microscopic black hole production has drawn a lot of attention in the recent years. However, the understanding of these events is far from being satisfactory. What do we really know of the physics of black hole production in theories with low-scale quantum gravity? In this talk I will discuss the status quo and direction of this research.
