Abstract
An open-framework cadmium selenite of the composition [CdCl 2 (HSeO 3 ) 2 ](enH 2 ) has been obtained by a solution-mediated reaction. This compound crystallizes in a monoclinic unit cell with the space group P2 1 / c (No. 14) and the lattice parameters a = 8.2888 (7) Å, b = 7.8071(7) Å, c = 9.9430(8) Å, β = 112.444(2)°, V = 594.69(9), Z = 4. The selenite has a layered structure containing macroanionic sheets of [CdCl 2 (HSeO 3 ) 2 ] 2- , with the protonated ethylenediamine (en) molecules in the interlamellar space. This cadmium selenite is the first few members of the new family of open-framework metal selenites.
