Dr. Wan Yang is Professor, Geology and Geophysics in the Geological Sciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering department at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is also an Adjunct Research Scientist at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Yang received a B.S. in Petroleum Geology and MS study in Exploration geophysics from Northwestern University, China, M.S. in Geology from California State University, Fresno, and Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined Missouri S&T in 2010.
Dr. Yang previously was in the Geology department of Wichita State University. He was an Associate Research Scientist in the Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin and an Exploration Geologist with Phillips Petroleum Company in the division of International Exploration and Production.

- Sedimentology and depositional systems, including modern and ancient, siliciclastic (marine and nonmarine) and carbonate, and outcrop and subsurface studies
