Professor Jack Morgan taught at Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri--Rolla) for many years where he was Research Professor of English. He was awarded Emeritus Research Professor status in 2011.
Professor Morgan's research interests include American literature, especially 19th century; Irish American literature in cultural studies; Irish literature and cultural studies; Crime literature; American non-fiction and Gothic literature.
A prolific scholar, he published several books. The Biology of Horror was a finalist in nonfiction for the 2002 International Horror Guild Award. It was also No. 2 among ForeWord's top ten university press "break out books" in 2002.
Professor Morgan also published many articles. One of them, "Toward an Organic Theory of the Gothic," won the Russell B. Nye Award for best article published in the Journal of Popular Culture, 1998-1999.
Now retired, Jack lives on the East Coast and continues to pursue his scholarly interests as well as spend time with family.
